4th of July Block Party Tradition

We live in a wonderful community in Torrance, known as the Seaside Ranchos. If you don't know it by name, you may know it as "the Christmas lights" neighborhood...more about that in December! Every year for the past 14 years, our street (Reese Road) has hosted a block party complete with a parade, games, bbq, swimming, jumpers, a DJ, a dessert bake off and more.

We've lived in our home for almost as many years and enjoy the annual gathering of friends and neighbors for a fun day of celebrating our country's birthday, this year being no exception. I love tradition and this day is one of my favorites. The giant jumper is always stationed in front of our house and my kids are only too happy to get the first crack at it bright and early in the morning when it is delivered. The whole neighborhood takes part in making the day a success. Thanks to everyone, and especially to Misty Ormsby who spearheads the event each year, we had another great party today.
A few shots from the day...

My youngest daughter Audrey with her friend Tatum and Simon.

The famous pie eating contest...my son George lost his 2-year champion title today!

The goodie bags I made for the kids...with help from Oriental Trading Co.

The Egg Toss

My daughter Helen, ready for the Parade

Me with some of my dear Girlfriends (our boys are all great buddies!)

The beloved Jumper...a kid favorite!

Having fun!

Happy 4th of July to you and your family...and the good news is that tomorrow is still a holiday. Yippeeeee!
